Rest in Peace Dear Brittney

Sadly this is the last post for Brittney.  He passed away yesterday (April 29, 2013) at 9:25AM in his doctor’s office.

Both Carol and Bill Foster were with him at the end.  He was 19 1/2 years old and in frail health with diabetes, neurological disease, hyperthyroidism and several other health issues. He could no longer walk well and was suffering.  It was the most difficult decision Carol and I have every had to make.

Euthanasia took place at his Doctors office by a very caring and loving Dr. named Jennifer Willy.  We were holding him has he took his last breath and still have not fully recovered and I don’t know if we every will.

We were able to donate all his food, toys, furniture and other items to a needy group that takes care of lost and suffering cats here in Las Vegas.  They were very grateful and so were we as we were in shock.  Brittney went down hill so quickly but he was very old and frail.

Brittney was a wonderful cat.  He was so full of playfulness and life and he made our life so full of joy it will be difficult for us.  As a tribute to him, I found this poem and will post it now:

If I Should Grow Frail

If it should be that I grow frail and weak

And pain does keep me from my sleep

Then will you do what must be done

for this – is the last battle – can’t be won.

——————————————————–

You will be sad I understand

But don’t let grief then stay your hand

For on this day, more than the rest

Your love and friendship must stand the test.

————————————————————

We have had so many happy years,

You wouldn’t want me to suffer so.

When the time comes, please, let me go.

—————————————————–

Take me to where my needs they’ll tend,

Only, stay with me till the end.

And hold me firm and speak to me

Until my eyes no longer see.

——————————————————————

I know in time you will agree

It is a kindness you do to me.

Although my tail its last has waved,

From pain and suffering I have been saved.

————————————————————————

Don’t grieve that it must now be you

Who has to decide this thing to do.

We’ve been so close – we three – these years,

Don’t let your heart hold any tears.

Rest in Peace Dear Friend

Brittney the Cat ‘loves’ Purina and wrote them a letter!!

Helleow everyone!

I, Brittney the Cat, am soooooo happy today, I can’t stop purring, can you guess why?  You won’t be able to guess I bet!

The wonderful people at Purina have given me some coupons for special food  because of me being diabetic.  They know that their Fancy Feast Classic SAVED MY LIFE because my mommy told them so, and they are so impressed by how clever I am to write a thank you letter with mommy’s help that they are helping me some more.  For a chap in his senior years, at nineteen, having the RIGHT DIET is so important, and those clever Mewtritionists [I think that’s what Mommy said they were called] at Purina know EXACTLY what a fellow needs!

I am in tip-top shape and nobody would think I was even NINE let alone nineteen to look at me, all thanks to eating food that’s low in carbohydrates and full of all the things that make ME full of life!

I say, Purrs for Purrrrrina, because they’ve made me the elegant, debonair and dapper gentleman that I am.

I Dreamt That I was the King of Beasts – in Africa.

July 25, 2012 – I Had a Dream Tonight: I get so sleepy after my huge meals and lots of cold water. I was sleeping in my house (see below)

and thought I was a Lion in Africa. I was the King of Beasts, in charge of the whole jungle and savannah plains. I was sleeping lazily under the shade trees with my family; waiting for the family to do the hunting and bring me dinner.

I am a cat, so I’m a carnivore, in other words I like meat. In my dream, I was chowing down on some great gazelle chops and thinking about my next nap. Suddenly, a large rhinoceros came stomping over my way. What was he lost (see below).

In my dream, I woke up and roared my mighty roar. It was so lowd I shook the branches on the trees and all the smaller animals trembled with fear. The large rhinoceros decided he was not going to tangle with the King of Beasts, so he beat a haste retreat.

Abruptly, I was being gently pushed and there was Mommy saying its time for your shot and dinner. I was sad that I wasnt the King of Beasts anymore, but happy I was home in the good old USA, with my Mommy and Daddy.

Brittney The Cat

It is a Wonderful Day to be a Cat ~ I Ate Meowed, and Purred!

June 23, 2012 It is a Wonderful Day to be a Cat: My name is Brittney, and I am a cat, and I had a great day today!  My cat cousins came over to visit me at my house. You can meet them at my auntie Sarah Waldock website  Pussies galore I also had some of my other friends over for lunch today  Garfield and Morris the Cat came over and we all had lasagna, and it was yummy!!

My cousins, friends, and me all had a big bowl of lasagna for lunch, and we got cheese stuck in our whiskers. Our mommies had to wash our faces and whiskers before we could take a nap. After our catnap, my friends and cousins had to go home, and I missed them. Mommy scratched my back, and ears until I fell asleep. I woke up happy, and now I am in my green chair watching “Mickey Mouse” I do love that mouse and his friends. Someday I am going to be a movie star like Mickey Mouse, Garfield, and Morris the Cat!!
